Additional Information & Warnings!

  • Wellbutrin has been approved only for use in patients age 18 years and older.

  • Patients with a seizure disorder should not use Wellbutrin.

  • Patients who are already taking Zyban should not take Wellbutrin as it will result in overdose.

  • Patients with a current or prior diagnosis of bulimia or anorexia nervosa because of a higher incidence of seizures noted in such patients treated for bulimia with bupropion HCl immediate-relase formulation.

  • Patients who are taking a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor should not use this medication while taking the MAO or within 14 days following the discontinuation of an MAO inhibitor.

  • Any patient who has shown an allergic response to bupropion or the other ingredients that make up bupropion HCl.

  • Wellbutrin is not recommended for women who are pregnant.

  • It is best not to drink alcohol at all or to drink very little while taking Wellbutrin.

Report any adverse reations to your doctor.

Although Wellbutrin occasionally causes weight gain, a more common effect is weight loss: Some 28 percent of people who take this medication lose 5 pounds or more. If depression has already caused you to lose weight, and if further weight loss would be detrimental to your health, Wellbutrin may not be the best antidepressant for you.
